Added as new Master drive. Loaded Windows XP Home and all I get on boot up is " a disk read error has occurred." I have changed cables, positioned jumper in every possible way including no jumper and set this disk as first boot in BIOS. Still will not boot up, getting same error message. Please Help!

When you say loaded XP you mean installed it fresh? Or imaged from another drive?

I have the same problem after installing a WD3200BEVERTL Scorpio Blue on my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop as an upgrade. After installing Windows XP, it formatted then reset itself . but all I get is " a disk read error has occurred..Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart" over and over again. This is the third..yes third same model HD installed after I returned and exchanged the previous two both with the same problem. Please help.

Sorry for the delay in responding to the OP. When you install XP onto these drives, don't have any other drives connected to the system and see if that changes anything.
