Hello,
about one month ago I bought a Western Digital 2TB Caviar Black Edition. I installed it as a second drive, formatted with one partition, on a Windows Vista 64bit system.
Now, the drive randomly disappear, sometimes it isn't recognized at start-up, sometimes it goes away when I'm exploring folders (the system freeze). Sometimes it just works well.
Looking at the SMART values, I can see bad values on many entries as Uncorrectable Sector Count, Current Pending Sector Count, Write Error Rate, Read Error Rate and UltraDMA CRC Error Count. This values are increasing with time.
Here is a screenshot from CrystalDisk: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5436438/wd_smart.jpg
I have other 2 500Gb Caviar Black and they are performing well, all the SMART fileds above have 0 as raw value.
I'm not a SMART expert but I'm afraid I'm loosing this drive. I did a backup but I need to use it for work (there is a 100gb ongoing video project on it). ![]()
What should I do? It will last another month? and what about WD RMA policies? It's enough for a RMA or it must be completely broken?
Thank you.

use hard disk sentinel just to double check
but it seems that your drive is dying slowly
bad sectors will grow up... is like cancer :/
id recomend to backup all your data regularly
and send it back for replacement
use another old drive if possible to put your project ![]()
