I have three 2TB disks, all three model no. WDC WD20EARS-00MVWB0
I have a problem enabling SMART on one of them, the other two are ok.
The only difference I can see is the Firmware;
Firmware version of the drives with SMART enabled: 51.0AB51
Firmware version of the drives wher enabling SMART fails: 0953; SMART reports this drive as SMART capable
My question is how can I upgrade the firmware on Linux
I've contacted WD support, but was told to conatc this forum
Thanks

Hi there, first you'd need the file with the update, and that is not posted anywhere.

Honestly no idea. The file is not allowed to be posted in here and WD doesn't have available to the public on their website. I know it's not much, but leave the request open in here. Also try to contact the user fzabkar as he was able to make a Linux tool to change the firmware on other WD drives.
