I really cannot believe that WD did not pick up on this years ago.,,,

Nowdays the size of multi-pixel photos, RAW photos, and the use of memory cards to shoot HD video just screams

GIVE ME A PORTABLE STORAGE SO I CAN SHOOT MORE ON MY VACATION WITHOUT TAKING A LAPTOP !!!!! 

Well... some companies used to do it... and not always in a good way or way way too expansive more then some laptops....

I would like to see a 2.5" portable drives with 300GB-1TB  capacity containing popular card memory support

such CF, SDHC, XD etc with USB connectivity and rechargable battery (replacable).

I would also expect the drive to be able to charge the battery using a USB cable and an IPhone like power-to-usb adapter/charger. 

The drive should allow simple one click backup of the memory card contents to the portable drive.

You could provide also a few levels of products:

1. Consumer class: 320GB-500GB external SATA with simple LCD for file transfer indication.

2. Mid-range class: 500GB-1TB external SATA with 2.7-3" LCD screen which also able to review photo / video

3. Pro Class: SSD external drive with 3" screen which also able to review photo / video, zoom in... maybe even features     such as OTG usb for direct camera to drive transfer, mini-hdmi for external screen playback, wifi for uploading to    
    online sites such as picasa/flickr/youtube etc. 

I'm sure that WD ability at media serving and high quality drive technology can produce a line of products that no photographer will go without. This could be a multi million dollar product line !!!
