My Passport Essential SE 1t wont work...

When I try to add something to my passport, it is telling me that it "can't be modified".

I use a MacBook Pro with OX 10.5.8. I plugged this into a PC and it worked straight away. I even created a file in there. I then plugged it back into my Mac and it still wouldn't work, nor could I do anything with the newly created file.

Any ideas on how I can get around this problem???

Thanks for your help.

Hi.

That means your drive is NTFS ( File system that only works on windows). The only thing you have to do is format the drive on HFS+ ( File system that only works on Mac). How?

1- With the drive plugged on your mac access Disk Utility ( click on the magnifing glass to do it faster, type Disk Utility and boom you'll have it)

2- On Disk Utility you will have a list of the drives plugged on the computer ( on the left ), click on the drive that shows the capacity and the name for example 1TB WD My Passport

3- After that go to the options on the right and click on Partition

4- On the Partition area click on Volume Scheme and select 1 Partition on the drop down menu, after that go to name delete Untittled 1 and rename the drive. Make sure on Format says Mac OS Extended ( Journaled ) if you dont see that, select it on the drop down menu.

5- On the bottom of the window click on Option and select Apple Partition Map

6- Click on the Apply Button and on the pop up window click on Partion

7- You will see a progress bar saying Creatind Partition Map, when the progress bar is full you're done

( If you have a message saying the drive couldn't be unmounted, restart the computer and try the steps above)

P.S. Today I am in the mood to help a lot, take an advantage of that ... lol ... :smileytongue:
