UPdated software anf firmware, now can not connect

HD, THEN, A POP UP CAME IN SAYING 'UPDATE IS AVAILABLE', THEN I CLICKED ON IT, FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTION, AND INSTALLED BOTH OS AND FIRMWARE. NOW, MY WD EXT. what is the model of your HD Drive, if it has the smartware, then go to this link http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/updates/?family=wdsmartwaremac and try to do the update again. Or if that fails try http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/updates/?family=wdsmartwareutilitiesmac

Yea I did the same thing while on my mini 10v and tried twice also now my drive on both are full of junk and now don't work right if at all

2. Does your VCD show up on desktop?

3. Disk Utility see the drive?

4. Is it formatted correctly?

5. Does the drive spin and stay spinning?
