Nevermind the fact that I neglected to back up my data because I -assumed- it would be an innocuous procedure. Regardless, I have a bunch of data on the drive and want to recover it. What I did was remove the drive from the enclosure in order to put it as an internal hard drive. I assumed nothing would happen, lo and behold Windows Disk Management says its all unallocated. What could've caused this and how do I fix it?
OS: Win7 Pro 64

If this drive came with Smartware the drive has hardware encryption. Even if you get the drive recognized the data will be encrypted.

Well, that doesn't sound good. the drive didn't come with any smartware that I am aware of but it might've been background stuff. Either way, encrypted sounds the most plausible/likely. Any way to undo that? Or is the data essentially lost for good. ![]()

Maybe something like EaseUS disk Wizzard http://www.easeus.com/resource/repair-raw-disk.htm Or Recuva http://www.piriform.com/recuva Might help.

Like Majora, I removed the external hard drive from the case and I'm using a hard drive docking station connected to my laptop to extract the data I want from it. Problem is the data is encrypted, and idea on how to undo the encryption so I can access the data?
