My Book Essential suddenly write protected?

Last night I went to connect my external hard drive as usual and I noticed nothing was popping up asking how I want to view the files. I tried to get into the device manually and nothing was there. I went into disk management and it prompted me to initialize the disk but when I click OK it says its write protected. It also says its unallocated (screen shots below). I tried to Google solutions myself and nothing has worked. I tried editing the ControlSet001, 002 and CurrentControlSet storage device policies but there is nothing to fix because they're as they should be. I even tried starting in safe mode but nothing has worked. Can anyone please help me?

Re: My Book Essential suddenly write protected?

Try the drive on a different computer.

The drive can lockup if it there are partition issues

Did you ever set up a password?
