My Book new circuit board or new enclosure?

Hi,

My My Book Home Edition 500gb (SATA) stopped powering up, it may have received a power overload/surge and now won't turn on at all.

 

Am I right in thinking that WD don't send out replacement circuit boards or spare parts?

 

I'm unable to find another copy of the My Book home edition online, and i've read that there is some encryption and it's not possible to transfer to another enclosure.

 

Any comment greatly appreciated.

If the drive came with Smartware it is hardware encrypted by the circuit board. You might find a board on Ebay.
