MyBook Essential drive erased

I have erased my drive and didn't realise it would be unuseable. How do I get it back? I have followed the instructions from the manual/knowledgebase but the drive is still unavailable.

Re: MyBook Essential drive erased

I wanted to stop using WD Smartware as it uses up so much resource, especially hard disc space with its shadow versions of backed up objects, but also CPU at start up. Now WD Smartware says the drive is unavailable and Windows Explorer says the disc is not formatted. I followed the instructions in the manual

'After the drive erase operation completes, go to support.wdc.com and see Knowledge Base Answer ID #5419 for information about downloading and restoring the WD SmartWare software and disk image on your My Book drive.'

but this hasn't helped.
