The SmartWare of My Book Essential, does not backup

My WD My Book Essential, 1TB, driver was update to version 1.6.0.  on May 9, 2012. The SmartWare does not work correctly. You cannot perform the necessary backup. I've reinstalled several times the new version, format the drive, reinstalled the original SmartWare that comes with the unit, upgrade the firmware, but it is not possible to start the backup. The icon is displayed in the toolbar, but it cannot be opened. I need suggestions to do. Thank you.

Make sure your Adobe Flash and NetFramework 3.5 are uptodate. That can cause problems updating firmware.
