Viewing files on other computers

Is it possible to view pictures and video saved on my My Book Essentials on other PCs?  I bought the My Book Essential to backup files on my Toshiba Satellite in the event that it crashes.  If that does happen, how do I view the files on other computers?

First make sure you have more than one copy. The forum is loaded with people who moved all of their important stuff to an external and had no other copy and had a problem. I I don't know about the Toshiba part. It would depend if they are some type pf backup file or standard video files. If the first you'd probably need the backup software for retrival. If they are standard files they should be useable on another PC as long an they are both Windows or both Mac.
