I have run into problems applying the update in the official way. Using Firefox 8. I've had to apply a previous update in the same way, via. the Linux shell, bypassing the Dashboard UI in applying the update from file.
When trying to update from file I get the `Importing File` message with a spinning icon to the left and nothing happens.
I've resorted to manually downloading `apnc-021009-124-20111113.deb`, placing it in the directory `/DataVolume/cache` and executing the command:
/usr/local/sbin/updateFirmwareFromFile.sh /DataVolume/cache/apnc-021009-124-20111113.deb
Obviously I copied the upgrade file to the `cache` folder manually.
The script has output :
version_newfile=021009124 version_current=020301024

One bug remains. For a Safepoint. If the target share for an existing Safepoint is not accessible (like it's turned off) then the entry in the list of Safepoints does not show. ![]()

Urgh - I asked the team to make sure that FAQ was up!! We will get it fixed.
Also we did not miss that one Myron. It is on the list - just has quite a bit of work behind it to have it in this release.

Dear WD,
Sorry fellows - Sleep/StandBy is still not working. Same problem as when the MBL 3TB was received in September 2011 with F/W 02.01.06-26. Sleep/StandBy didn't work as received or with updates to F/W 02.02.02.020 or 02.03.01-024. And now it's still not working with F/W 02.10.09-124 released Thur 17 Nov 2011. I have installed no software from CD, have transferred no files to the MBL, and have not enabled Media, FTP or Remote Access. The drive spins down every 10 minutes for about 1 second (as determined by listening to the drive) and the Status LED changes from Green to Blue for a period of 60 or 61 seconds and then goes back to Green. The var/log/user.log file reports reliably the transition of the Status LED with the entries "Enter standby" (LED goes from Green to Blue) and then 60/61 seconds later reports "exit standby after 6x" (LED goes from Blue to Green).
Extract from user.log taken after the F/W update follows:

Can we please go back to the drawing board on this one as I expect that I will not be the only one with the same problem. Thanking you in advance (for the next FW release and hopefully a final fix to this problem) As I did moments after my last F/W update, I will now be powering down the MBL and will not use it again until this problem is resolved.
Happy troubleshooting. Good luck. WilliamH.

The two bugs I reported have been fixed (at least the Release Notes say so).
Thank you, WD, for keeping your existing customers happy with updates and bugfixes.
Unfortunately, many companies nowadays forget you as a customer once they have your money. I'm happy this does not seem to be the case with WD.
Regards,

Hi
Just a dumb question: are MBL settings and hdd content preserved after fw upgrade ?
Thanks
