Offline Files Possible?

I justinstalled my new WD Mybook Live device and I do not see a way to set up folders/shares as offline files.  The device can not be set up as a Sync Center Partner?

Re: Offline Files Possible?

For those also looking to use the offline files/syncing features of Windows, the solution has to do with the OS.

Windows XP Professional and higher, Vista Professional and higher, and 7 Professional and higher all have the possibility.  With XP Professional, you must turn off user switching.  With Windows 7 Professional, you do not and it isn't an option anyway.

Machine to machine based offline files are NOT supported in Windows 7 Home Premium or lower, which is the OS of my two new machines.  You do still have the Sync Center, but it's for syncing devices and it doesn't appear the WD NAS has the partner capability.  Or does it??

If you have Windows 7 you can take advantage of Microsoft's new, Upgrade anytime feature as ALL versions are installed and only the ones of what you purchase are unlocked.  Upgrading from Home Premium to Professional is about $89 today and with the purchase, you will get a new code that simply unlocks the Professional features.

Microsoft also has a separate app called SyncToy 2.1 that can sync folders between Windows home and other network storage devices.  I plan to play with that this evening..
