Red LED Light comes on during boot, then LED shuts off and thats it folks.

This LED issue has infected by 2TB drive too. Mine only has red steady on during boot then turns off, no other light is on after that.  A full complete factory reset did NOT solve the issue.  WD MY BOOK LIVE 2TB.  Latest Firmware.  Red comes on during boot, then LED shuts off and thats it folks.  Data accessability does not appear to be an issue and diagnostic tests pass.

Write `green` to that device and see what happens.

 Maybe there is a hardware fault or a fault with the device driver handling the LED?
