Basic questions regarding Powerline AV Network Kit

[ Edited ]

Good morning,

I am interested by buying this product and have a few questions before doing so :

- Living in the US but going back to France this summer, I would like to check if the equipment will work on both side of the Atlantic.

- That maybe a dum question but what goes through the home powerline exactly : is it just an internet acess or is is like a Ethernet cable ? Meaning that in addition to the internet acess you will be abble to browse the home network and access the other computers and other files ?

- My idea is to watch on my living room TV, some movies and pictures which are on my network hard disk on the other side of the house. Will this be feasable with this product ?

Many thanks and I apologize for my English mistakes.

Re: Basic questions regarding Powerline AV Network Kit

The Livewire uses the electrical outlets to extend a network signal from one Livewire unit to another.  Not sure if it will work in France, since according to the specs it works 125 Volts, I suggest you to contact WD to verify this.

Re: Basic questions regarding Powerline AV Network Kit

As far as I know it uses the electric cables like Ethernet cables to extend the internet signal. Don't know if the voltage affect a lot.
