broken usb b socket

My usb b socket is broken on my 320 external passort hard drive, I've removed it and was going to re solder a  new socket on it but wonder if anyone had or new of a connection diagram for the 12 pins at the base of the hard drive. I was thinking about connecting the usb lead direct onto them. That way I can get my data without having to mess about with a new socket or lead.
