2TB My Book Essential and Mac OSX Lion

I just purchased a 2TB My Book Essential and I have an intel based iMac with Snow Leopard.  I already have an older Western Digital 250GB connected and used for Time Machine.  I would like to unplug the old and connect the new.  This may sound like a really silly question but not being technically minded at all and not wanting to lose any data, how do I unmount the old drive?  I intend on keeping the old drive in case I need to refer to some really old files.  I'm just not sure how to remove the old drive.  I assume you can't just unplug it.  Also, we are planning on upgrading to Lion.  I've noticed som posts indicating that WD drives do not work with Lion.  (BTW - this new 2TB is not the Mac version).  Have the issues been solved yet?

Re: 2TB My Book Essential and Mac OSX Lion

To unplug the drive safely just eject the drive. Drag the icon to trash can and that will eject the drive.

My Book is compatible with Lion.
