LED keeps flashing but my computer doesn't recognise it and neither does device/drive manager

[ Edited ]

When I plug the hard drive into my computer the LED blinks constantly at a steady pace and my computer doesn't recognise it anywhere. I have a 2TB desktop hard drive. Does anybody know how I can either fix this or recover my files or both? Thanks. :smileyhappy:

*EDIT* I am using Windows 7.

Hmm. Perhaps you have a malfunctioning drive. Happened to me on my drive. Go to a quiet room, plug it in, and hold the drive up to your ear. if you hear a faint *click* *Whiiirrrrr* it's dead. RMA it.

If it's not showing up in  disk management, there's a problem. (start, right click computer, manage, disk management (seems like you already know))

If it's a powered drive try moving the plug to a different receptacle not in the surge protector.

I Solve my problem I went to youtube and see how unassembled the unit I did it and then plug into my Apricorn power supply and immediately it function, I don't recommend it to you, every problem is different, I did it and give me good results, now I have all my data safe in a internal HD and also in a Drobo System Back up, now I am Happy, I hope you can solve your problem Man, in my case somebody recommend me to send the unit to a group of clowns that call themselves Drivesavers, a friend of mine call them and they tell him their prices are from 700 to 24 Hundred to recover your data, jajajaja by the way WD would be aware of this type of malfunction on their units probably is just the plug, Made in China or Malaysia, its noting personal its just my opinion.
