My 2 WD Desktops keep getting write delay errors on my new box that has xp pro sp3

Have 2 wd desktop 1 terabyte externals. Only 3 months old. Worked fine on my old pc. They work fine on my windows 7 laptop. When I connect them to my new pc box which I've got xp pro sp3 on they keep coming up with write protection errors or they freeze when I try to drop anything into them from explorer. I can take them off this pc and put them on anything else and no problems. I can plug anything else into my new pc and the other devices working fine. These are my backup drives. They are mirror images of each other. Went and formatted one drive under new pc and formatted fine. Now when I try to copy over other external data - write delays and bombs out.
