My Elements 1023 - Dead?

[ Edited ]

Hi, I was connecting my Elements 500GB USB drive to the pc to back up my system and then I couldn't find it at all. In disk manager it says it's not allocated.

Ashampoo's HDD Control 2 says following:

The weird thing is that i can't give it any partition letter or adress. I can't do a squat in disk manager!!!! Not even repair the ntfs-library that i think is the problem here. Or has it just deleted it self?

EDIT!: I didn't notice that my formation got screwed up last post. Sorry for that.

That's an easy to read post you got there :smileyindifferent:. Check if using DLG allows you to write zeros and then try to format it again.

Is the drive unallocated in Disk Management? Can you post a screenshot of your Disk Management screen?

Re: My Elements 1023 - Dead?

The partition appears to be to messed up to allow anything

try a different cable or different application to erase the drive

if no go.. you know what to do

Re: My Elements 1023 - Dead?

Im thinking of testing some other cables and USB-ports this week. If that doesn't do it i always could use my warranty and send it to RMA.
