WD ELEMENTS SE 500GB, NOT RECOGNISING

So i've had my hardrive for about 3 years, its worked perfectly. Its always used on my laptop(PC) anyways my sister just pulled it out of my computer one day without ejecting in properly. Now when i plug it in, the blue light blinks once and then stays lit. It makes that noise the usb's make when plugged into a pc, then a little bubble pops up on my taskbar and says driver installed correctly, but when i open My Computer it doesnt show up. When i go to device manager, its under the Disk Drive arrow/tab. Its just called WD when i click properties it says device is working properly.
im not that good with computers so i dont really know what to do, but i desperatly need whats on there.
please my only other option is data recovery but all 3 places i called quoted up to 750 dollars.

It sounds like partition data is corrupt maybe something like this http://www.easeus.com/resource/repair-raw-disk.htm will repair it. Test Disk might work too. You can also try Recuva http://www.piriform.com/recuva for data recovery.

i have the same problem but with a different wd hard drive my light keeps on blinking and it just never shows up on the computer so im not sure how im meant to fix the problem
