Hi
I just purchased a WD Elements 1TB portable drive to use as storage to hold movies to be played in my cars DVD head rests for the kids. Trouble is the DVD headrests don't recognise the drive & I'm assuming because its NTFS.
My question is; Can I reformat this drive (I only have one test movie loaded so I don't care about lost files) but in Windows Vista the option I get is exFAT. I'm not familiar with formatting & am wondering if this is correct? Do I just select exFAT & do a format?
Also, there is an option to allocate unit size, the default seems to be 128kb, do I leave that alone or change it & if so what & why?
Thanks for any help this complete novice appreciates it.
Regards
Mik

exFat is also probably not going to work. Just follow the link below to format it in FAT32 with Partition Master.

Don't rely on this drive as the only copy of your movies. FAT32 is more prone to corruption. Moving the drive around may also subject it to more bumps and temperature extremes if left in a car.
