WD Elements 1TB external hard drive not working :(

I bought this external hard drive for about two months ago. It worked perfectly until today. Yesterday I connected the hard drive to another PC. At first it didn't seem read the files correctly , but the problem was solved after a few restarts.. This morning when I started the computer it didn't recognize the hard drive, because usually there is this blue WD icon, but today it was just drive E: so I double clicked on it and got this message  "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable". Ok, so I thought this may be the computer's prob and decided to connect it back to the first PC. But the same message popped up.  Finally I connected it to laptop and same thing there... Now I'm afraid it might be the hard drive's issue. I have precious files and documents there so if anyone has practical recommendations (since I don't know much about computers), they'd be really welcome!

Thanks,

kete

Nope, it's not the drive.  You probably corrupted the data when you were having problems reading the files, or somehow before.  What kind of computer did you copy the files from, and what kind of computer were you attempting to read them on?
