WD Elements Desktop 500 GB Hard Drives laptop won't recognize

Hi guys I hope that you can help I have a [Deleted] WD Elements Desktop 500 GB Hard Drives WDBABV5000ABK - 00 WD Elements SE Portable my problem is that my laptop will not recognize it when it eventually does it wants to format it, however it does show in disk management. I also purchased a WD Elements Play and all the drives contents show there ? My problem is how do I get to view on my laptop and remove some of photos and movies that are on my external, drive? Any answers will help!!

The drive is corrupted

 

You will need to format to be able to use it
