iMac running Windows 7 and 3TB Firewire

I use an iMac with Windows 7 only.  I don't use the MAC side at all and the machine boots up into Windows only.  Is there a way to use the built-in Firewire 800 for the WD 3 TB Firewire/USB 2.0 external drive.  I can use the drive with USB but was hoping for the faster speed of Firewire.  When hooked to the Firewire 800 on the iMac, the drive just doesn't work.  I suspect this may be an Apple misdesign, however they should know there are folks out here using their computers without the MAC OS installed.

I have only kernels of Bootcamp installed and minimal MAC files in the background.  Previously I had a full install of Bootcamp and could run Mac or Windows.  In Windows, the Firewire 800 would still not run the external drive in Firewire mode.  Only USB.

I had wanted to replace all my older USB drives with these larger Firewires so was hoping there is a fix for this.

Did you verify the drivers? Otherwise it seems to me you will need to contact Apple...

Windows 7 is very picky about drivers they have to be digitally signed.

Apples and Oranges dude

You are using a Mac for Windows you will have similar problems if it was the other way around

you might need to go the apple community to see if there's something you need to tweak on their setting

I you don't use the OS X why don't you just get a Windows Computer and avoid the hassle?
