I have WD Elements 1tb external HD with model number - wd10000eb035-01. And it's worked perfectly for a few months now but i tried powering it up the other day and it just won't power on. I don't know whether it's the adapter or something inside the HD, does anyone have any ideas? Also, will my data be ok?
Thanks.

Have you tried connecting the drive directly to the wall outlet? Sometimes, the surge protectors get old and hinder full power, especially if you have added devices to them.

Well I took it to the store and they tried the adapter and it was giving the correct readings. So it was the HDD. So I bought an enclosure, but it doesn't work. The LED lights just flash and nothing is detected. So I tried another 1TB I had from a long time ago and when that was connected the LED lights just went off completely with again no detection by the computer.

Yes indeed same thing happened to me tonight on same machine, cable from plug is flickering when I pull out of WD hard-drive it stops flickering, I think faulty cable from plug/socket. Only used HD about 3 times as 2nd backup. what to do?

I've got one of these with the same issue. I popped the HD out of the enclosure and saw the control-board was burnt to bug*ery. so its a HD fault especially if you've checked the PSU has got through-put
now how to get this fixed without losing the data......

My WD G1C2500N won't turn on. I tried plugging it directly into outlet. My last back up was Feb 12th, but it won't let me access any info on it. Any thoughts?
