Advance Replacement for Caviar Black

I  ordered an advance replacement on April 19th for my 1TB Caviar Black.  April 20th, they created the label for UPS.  Checking until today it still shows that UPS did not even receive the drive from Western Digital yet at any of their facilities.  Usually it is maximum 1 day after they pick it up that they scan it and have an update for their ETA shipping.

 

I called Western Digital and emailed their support for RMAs and no one seems to understand that creating a label with UPS does not mean that they have actually physically shipped the drive out yet from their warehouse.  Just passing this along to the community so you think twice, like I will, from ever buying another Western Digital drive.  This drive suddenly doesn't show up in BIOS at 13 months after purchase.  Just an installation drive for programs.

 

Frustrated beyond belief I can't even get them to understand why I'm upset that UPS tracking doesn't have any info about ETA because they didn't get the drive from WD.  They just keep telling me that it's been shipped when I can see it hasn't actually shipped.

this happens with upgrade program as well

sometimes it just doen't show as shipped until they're banging on your door to deliver it

if you don't have it by Monday or at the very latest Tuesday (which is more than 10 days)
email support again but don't mention the label thing or the site not saying if it has or hasn't actually shipped

just give them the order number and tell them you ordered and paid for advance replacement and it hasn't arrived
and they should be able to tell you the status of the order

actually got the replacement today and very pleasant surprise it seems to be a new drive in sealed electrostatic bag, not refurbished!  hopefully, the return processing of my defective drives goes well too.  WD might just have earned them another try for my next drives.
