Mac Pro - wd7500bpvt hanging every approx. 2 minutes

I have a Macbook Pro 15" from mid 2009 running Lion 10.7.3.

I replaced the hard disk and made a fresh install of the OS and made 2 partitions on the disk using a GUID partition table.

Everything works basically fine. The only problem which makes me crazy is that the system regularly parks for about 20-30 seconds. This is not such a big problem during normal use although saving bigger documents is sometimes a problem.

A problem comes up when watching videos.

I see the spinning waiting cursor almost every 2 minutes popping up and the video interrupts.

I already tried hdapm with different settings. -> no effect

Anybody an idea?

Help would be very much appreciated.

Tom

Have you tried Wdidle?

Before applying it, I would first search the Internet to see if someone has tested it on your model.
