WD10EARS Failure

I bought a WD10EARS disk in October 2009 which tiurned out to be DOA. I had a replacement worked OK until yesterday when my PC would not boot up. Is this normal for this product or have I just been unlucky?

I have ordered another replacement drive, guess what, it's a Samsung Spinpoint.

Can you be more specific? Does your machine power up at all? Does it hang during the POST while detecting your drive(s)? Or does it hang after your OS begins to load?

Re: WD10EARS Failure

The PC boots from a Windows Vista drive so I know that it works OK.  It fails to see to see the WD10EARS drive at all.

I have also downloaded the Lifeguard diagnostics program, this does not detect the WD drive.
