WD20EARS only reporting as 1TB instead of 2TB

Are there any modern OS fixes for Host Protected Area bug explained here?

I'm in a bit of a jam because i'm no longer using the bugged Gigabyte board, but it seems to have written stuff to the HPAs of several WD20EARS (2.0TB) drives while I was trying to set up a fileserver, and they all show up as 1TB now (on a seperate ASUS board).  The tools outlined in that thread do not seem to work under 64 bit Windows 7 either.  I've tried using a WD provided tool to zero out the drive, tried using the disk partition manager tools under an Ubuntu Live CD (thinking it might be better at noticing issues than Windows was) but got nowhere.  Any modern fixes for this problem?  Am I overlooking something?

You might want to pm fzabkar to see if any other utility he can recommend

Otherwise, you can connect the drive to another OS that supports HDD Capacity Restore Tool
