WD3200BEVT Clicking noise and failure

Hi,
I have Western digital WD3200BEVT hard disk drive in my laptop. Today, when laptop wake up from sleep mode, the HDD started making clicking noise as if it is stopping after every ~3 seconds and starting again. The HDD light of my laptop started blinking with the noise. I disconnected the Hard disk and put in the USB enclosure and it was behaving the same. And I couldn't access the data anyway (neither when it was connected to laptop, not using the enclosure). And it was not recognised by the computer.

There are lot of important personal data in that HDD and I don't have back up. Do you know if this HDD is repairable? Or, is there anyway to recover the data?

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Re: WD3200BEVT Clicking noise and failure

The problem is not solved yet, but now it is in interesting stage. I will tell you the story first.

I took my HDD to the shop. They asked huge money for data recovery. So, I get the HDD back as I can not afford that money (or my data is not that worth it). So, I thought to gamble a little. I was looking for HDD of same series. But I couldn't find that series. So I bought the later version , which is almost same.

old HDD model is - WD3200BEVT-22A23T0 PCB no.- 2060-771672-001 REVP1

New HDD model is - WD3200BEVT-00A23T0 PCB no.- 2060-771672-004 REVA

Now, I changed the PCB and put the new HDD's PCB into old one. Then I connected it to laptop using USB enclosure. And the clicking sound is gone! It's running smoothly. Even the HDD is recognized by laptop as external drive. BUT, it is not recognized as HDD. Windows xp can not recognize it as a drive, neither it's partitions. I connected to the SATA port of the laptop and rebooted. Then BIOS says, master hard disk drive not recognized.

Now, how can I solve this problem? How can I make the HDD recognized by PC?

I appreciate your help.
