Western Digital , WD1600BEVS driver help please

Hello

I was recently given a Gatway laptop and i was able to fix it up and reinstall a copy of windows vista 32bit. Everything installed just fine except for the Mass Storage Device driver. I tried getting the driver from the Gateway site but it will not install for some reason. Everytime i start up windows it tells me that it found new hardware and needs to install the driver and to put in the disk that came with the HD. I do not have that disk and have no way of ever getting it. So i pulled the HD out to get the info off the lable and its a Western Digital Scorpio wd1699bevs 160 gig hard drive. Does anyone know where i can get the driver for this hard drive ?  A direct link tot he driver would be helpfull.

My OS is Win. Vista 32bit  on a Gateway MT6840 .

I hope someone can help me out :smileyhappy: you can email me directly if thats faster, my email is primul_archangel2@yahoo.com .

Thank you in advance :smileyhappy:

The mass storage drivers should be provided by the operating system when the os is installed.  If they aren't installing, it could be because the BIOS isn't recognizing the drive.  Get the latest BIOS updates from Gateway for your laptop.  Otherwise, you're looking at returning this drive to find one that is complatible with your laptop BIOS.
