Re: Network complications with My Book World firmware 1.02.10

I understand that people are working to fix the problems, and I thank them, and hope they can do that.

But I continue not understanding letting the bugged firmware disposable. You speak of a low percentage of users having problems. yes, it's true, but they are... how many? I did non count... say 10-20 in registered in this forum? but how many people have had problems without writing here? how many have thrown the machine in the garbage, call directly the support, brought it back to their seller, or to a trusted friend/technician/hacker? how many, after updating and having problems will make you bad advertisment by forums and blogs? there are people who have lost data (I used it only for back up, but I have the original in the pc hd, so I didn't lose nothing important even if the machine was not fixable)... so I don't undestand why letting this thing contiune, and letting the "not-forking-for-a-real-very-few-people-firmware" where it is... well I think that maybe the WD makers are wiser than me, and that little percentage of people complaining is their concern, not mine. Hope you will not have to deal with hundreds of customers angry in the end...

Yep, many probably haven't complained, i hadn't but the numbers are probably higher than you think.  I'm actively seeking a replacement device now, losing faith in something you rely on for backups and storage of things that are important to you makes it useless even if it is basically a good product.  Will be forced to unplug it soon as i can't get access to it. Perhaps the ability to downgrade would be a good start. This is becoming more than frustrating. At least more people will join the forum and complain soon, considering the firmware is still available.

Re: Network complications with My Book World firmware 1.02.10

Just posting to say I have problems with the latest firmware too.  Suggestions to switch off NTP and disable Mionet have made things a bit better, but my NAS drive still drops off the network and needs to be rebooted.  I don't want to bother trying to disable Twonky because I use that software all the time.

Disable twonky doesn't fix the issue, well it doesn't erradicate it completely. At least not for me.

I still have to reset my device every few hours, but that is better than every 1 hour....

Re: Network complications with My Book World firmware 1.02.10

gingers,

I have the problem since I upgrade the firmware (infinite down/up/down/up/... internet interface in the Log).

Had you try to disable MioNet, just to ensure it is not the problem.

I will try tonight.

(Sorry for bad English).

I don't think more people complaining is going to make a difference... We should probably expect the new "improved" firmware round about Xmas...

BTW I have contacted WD as directed by Bill S last week (by email) got an email back that I should be contacted and that kind of crap and that it should take max 4 working days... 4 working days well passed and nobody has contacted me...!

Well done WD Support Team keep on going...!!!

Re: Network complications with My Book World firmware 1.02.10

Actualy I think WD are doing their job OK, they are in touch with other members here working on the issue. They are a little too silent though.

They state they have fixed something and tested it, but for some there are still issues. I'd rather they solve everythign than release another iffy FW version. But more updates from teh team would be good.

I don;t expect to wait till xmas...hopefully end of the week :smileyhappy:

Just some info for anyone with connection issues, you can directly connect to the MBW whitelight, using ethernet and and the WD discovery software as this will issue it an IP (you need DHCP enabled) This works without a cross eithernet cable, and the connection will not drop!
