DRY RUN OPTIONS

WD Smartware would benefit from the two features below, in terms of setting the user's mind to rest.

1.  Icon to list date of last saved item on  the WD SMARTWAVE display.  This would allow the user to make an occasional check to insure that the backup has been taking place recently.

2   Dry run backup recovery.  Give the user an option to practice a full retrieval, so that he doesn't have to learn while still in the emotional duress caused by a motherboard failure or some other disaster.  Simulate a full recovery of loading the entire backup onto a new machine when the old one fails.  Make the user go through all the steps, including putting in passwords and any other security data he will be expected to know when the actual event occurs.  Take him through every step, except of course don't do the actual reading from the disk.

3.  A similar dry run for retrieving one file from the backup disk without actually copying anything over and endangering an existing file  would be useful too.
