It would be great if when smartware is installed on the computer and does a automatic scan of your computer telling you the requirements it needs to install.

Example" Smartware requires Adobe Flash player to proceed with setup  please make sure there is a internet connection availible for smartware to install adobe flash player on this computer.

or"Netframework is not installed on this computer please wait while smartware searches and installs this option"

or the most famous of them all"Smartware has detected SES Driver is not installed please wait while smartware configures your drive and installs SES device driver"

What do you think?

WDSmartWare Upgrade

Western Digital needs to make it so the user can choose which drive can be backed up on Mac.  Right now it only goes to the OS drive and if someone has a second internal drive with data, it won't even recognize that drive to allow for the backup of that data.   WD really dropped the ball on this and should allow the user to make the decisions on which drive they want to back up, not the program.

smartware unlock glitch

The locking scheme of smartware is superb, which prevents unauthorized access to hd. However, when you explore WD Unlocker (with cd-rom icon), which anyone can access without unlocking, there is a file to quick format the hd . The result is that anyone with no authorizationcan can format my hd, which was, sadly, done by my little brother when he was not able to access the hd. We would like WD to modify and update smartware to meet this flaw.

1. Home Tab

Show smart status (heathy) and temp (40c/104f)

2. Settings > Software Settings

File history should allways keep the first file and then change the files after that ( if smartware allready does this then add a description)

version 0 = allways keep never delete

version 1 = can be changed

version 2 = can be changed

version . .= can be changed

and a option to disable quickview please!

3. Backup Tab

A log option to see the latest backed up files in backup tab

Auto-Shutdown Feature

It would be very nice if your SmartWare software included an Automatic Shutdown upon completion of a backup feature.  This way a person could set up their machine to backup his/her system and automatically shut down the system when the backup is finished.

Files in SWSetup folder  are not user files.  Window Update uses this folder to extract and expand OS updates.  Some these updates include picture, video, music file type which should not be backed up.
