WMA files not showing tag information

Hi

I just bought a WD Elements Play 2TB and it's working alright. The only problem is related with my audio collection, which I've copied from my PC to WD device.

WMA files are not showing ID3 tags values, so all wma files are under "Others" artist or whatever criteria you use to view the music files.

As WMA files are supported it should show ID3 tags values for these files as it does for MP3 files! Is there something I must do when ripping to WMA in order they have ID3 tags filed?

Thx for your help

Re: WMA files not showing tag information

AFAIK ID3 tags are designed for MP3 and may not work correctly for WMA files.  You can take a look at this link.

Re: WMA files not showing tag information

Hi Vadir

I know ID3 tags where made to MP3, but I know WMA supports ID3 tagging also. I have my music library on Windows and Windows Media Player reads tagging from MP3 without any problems. WD says this device supports MP3, WMA and other formats - as there are no exceptions stated, it should support WMA files tag reading. Otherwise it's erroneous information - I would never bought the device if I knew it didn't support WMA files tagging...

Is there any way to bypass this problem other than ripping my entire cd collection to MP3?

Thx
