Connecting Passport drive directly to PC via SATA connection.

[ Edited ]

My hard drive powers on by USB connection and spins, but does not recognize on any computer on any operation system. I have tried Windows XP, Vista, WIN 7 32 bit and 64 bit. MAC OSX (a few versions) . I see a diagram in how to connect directly to a pc via SATA.

This is for an older drive,  but my drive is newer and posted in the picture link below.

Here are the photos of my drive. I am just trying to gather information so I can have someone else do all the fancy connection work haha. Has anyone done this with this drive below? Thanks for help and suggestions.

If this drive came with Smartware it will be hardware encrypted and you won't be able to recover data. Some of the newer drives don't have standard connections.

In newest of  My Book and My Passport drives there is no SATA port, the USB port comes built-in the drive.  If you are concerned about the data I suggest you to contact a porfessional data recovery service.
