Windows 7 Error 43 "Device not recognized"

I've had a My Passport Essential 500GB for over a year.  I have recently upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7.  Now, I receive the above subject error message and cannot retreive my files.  In fact, it does not show up on My Computer.  Could someone please advise how to fix this? Thanks

Well for a start make sure your drivers for chipset and BIOS are up to date. Did you upgrade or do a clean install. Upgrades frequently have problems.

I have the similar issue so whats the suggestion here ? I cannot save or remove any files out of WD after i bought my new laptop with window 7.
