Power Supply

What is the benefit of using a 2nd power supply?  Will the system stay up and running if one fails?

Are they both active when plugged in, or just one at a time?

The other power outlet is for backup, in case that one fail, you can connect your power adapter and keep using the drive, I suppose that is not designed to run both power supply at the same time.

This is a good option because if the power dies, it will take hours and hours for the RAID array to rebuilt itself. Best to have 1 plugged into a battery backup and the other to a surge supressor on an other circuit.
