WD ShareSpace 8Tb Lithium battery usage

Good afternoon everybody

will you be so kind to explain the following mentioned in the manual:

"WARNING! The WD ShareSpace uses a lithium battery, type CR2032. There is
danger of an explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with
the same or equivalent battery type recommended by the manufacturer.
Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer’s instructions."

Where it is and what for? When and how to change it?

The battery is located on your main board. You would be able to see it if you take the SS cover off and look at the back (its a button battery). Its manly used to keep the time and date in the flash memory, as well as other things..

Could you explain what kind of other things

and one more when it should be replaced or some sign to replace sould be appeared, may be condition of the flat battery could make bad influence to overall operation of WDSS???

The SS would tell you when the battery needs replacing.. The battery would not impact on any other function if it ran out, only the time and date (but your date and time would only reset if you unplugged it from the power supply as well).
