WD Backup and Restore

Hello, I have a My Book External HD. My laptop was crashing and I went into system restore and backed up my laptop to My Book. After I restored the laptop to original factory settings I went back to restore the data and couldn't. It created a backup file with a .fbw extension.

No matter what I do I keep getting the message that there is no file to restore. I keep clicking on the backup.exe file and I get the same messgage. I think from my research that I discovered that you cannot use My Book to backup data like this. That you can only use it to copy and paste data you want to save.....I think. Is there anything at all that I can do to recover this data?

I don't know if this helps but it is stored in a folder that is labled MINWINPC

Re: WD Backup and Restore

You are in the Smartware forum, but you seem to be describing the Windows backup option, is that right?
