problem with wd tv remote

since the latest update (1.05.04_B), my wd tv remote will work on the menus but not when a video is playing. None of the buttons will work and the only way to turn it off is unplugging it. The info pane at the bottom of the screen also remains on the screen without showing any time moving. 

 

Any ideas?
