Am I missing these functions?

I just got a WDTV Live a week ago and it works great. But am I correct in thinking there is no function for 'slow motion' or frame-by-frame play? These seem like they should be included as basic functions, but I can't find how to do it if they exist.

 

Every dvd player I have seen will do this. I also have a Patriot Box Office Core SMP and it does it. I like some of the features of WDTV Live but am beginning to believe my viewing experience was better with Patriots' product.
