I have a blu-ray drive in my PC and have shared it over my network. I can access the drive via WDTV and play streams, but there is a lot of stuttering and audio loss. Does anyone know if there is a way to connect the WDTV directly to a PC to speed up streaming? Would this even make a difference? Thanks.

It's doubtful that'd help. You're probably encountering a PC performance issue.
But if you're really wanting to try it out, you will need an ethernet Crossover cable. Hook them directly together via their ethernet ports. That's pretty much all there is to it.
