Fatal system error

SO recently my wd tv live unit which i only got in april has started giving me a Fatel system error message and restarting the system... 
It seems to happen at random playing both things it used to be able to play and new things. This is when i'm playing things with a connected external hard drive.
The only change i have made was i went from it showing as a list to it showin with the icons and pictures.
Does anyone else get this or know of a way to fix it

Have you tried using another external hard drive?

No i havent

I do have another one but its empty atm and there doesnt seem to be any pattern behind what it has the error on, so filling a new one with media and then watching it to see if it does it could take some time
