Photos deleted/renamed from SD Card

I have WD TV Live with the latest firmware. I have been viewing photos from an SD card (via a usb adapter). At some point recently the WD TV Live deleted the DCIM directory from an SD Card and all the photos, this was very embarissing as it wasn't my SD card or photos!

There were some WD files a directories created on the SD card. Also I noticed a load of files on the root of the SD card with the .REC extension. These seemed to be the photos renamed. I'm not sure if they had been modified in any way other than the file name.

What is going on? Is it not safe to plug in USB drives containing photos?

Thanks.

Re: Photos deleted/renamed from SD Card

Can't find the thread at the moment but someone mentioned movie files being deleted from an USB drive. Never experienced this myself though.
