WDTV Live Restarting

I have my WDTV Live connected via Ethernet cable, I stream movies from the various PC's on the network. I'm using the latest firmware to date (17th April 2011). The unit is connect to my TV via HDMI.

I have issues with some stuff making the unit restart, the screen goes blank (no input) then reboots with the WD logo. This can happen randomly at any point , If I play the same thing that previously crashed the unit it doesn't always crash at the same point - it seems completely random.

The majority of video I play is 720p x264 stuff.

This is stopping me from enjoying the WD TV Live as everything I watch is interrupted.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Re: WDTV Live Restarting

I am getting exactly the same thing, this is only happening though since I updated to the latest firmware a couple of days ago. This never happened before. Wonder if there is a bug in the firmware?

Anyone any thoughts on this?

Re: WDTV Live Restarting

Come to think of it... we only got this issue after updating the firmware too.

It must be something to do with that. I hope WD know and are working on a fix!

Re: WDTV Live Restarting

Downgrade to the previous firmware and see if the problem is resolved.

Have had this random restart on mine today, have posted the media info and if everyone else can do the same we might just be lucky and see a partern so WD can try and sort it out.

This is probably down to the fact that it is a pirate rip and possibly non-standard.

Re: WDTV Live Restarting

Nice spot Rich,  and you are most proberly right about it being non-standard.

P.S. The file was part 2 of "The Walking Dead" because Channel 5 messed up their signal to set my DVD recorder going on that one part of the series, have since got a non-pirate copy from the re-run on 5US. :smileyhappy:

Re: WDTV Live Restarting

Markinuk how did you get the file information that you pasted on your post. I'm still getting this issue. Also how do I go back to the previous version of the firmware. Can't see anyway of doing it.

Re: WDTV Live Restarting

Actually tonight mine is now rebooting at random points whether or not I'm watching anything. Think I might copy everything off it tomorrow (about 800gb) reset it to factory defaults and copy everything back this is doing my head in. I can't watch anything as it reboots and then takes 2-3 mins to reboot I then have to find the file again and as it has rebooted there is no resume point so I have to fast forward through to where it stopped. Hope wd are aware of this issue.
