Accessing both drives

After hooking up an external drive, and choosing Local Drives in the video menu, I used to be able to see both drives, and could pick either one. Now, something's happened, and I can only see one drive. I have to hit the red button, choose Local Drives again, then pick the other drive to access. What'd I do to remove the ability to "see" both drives at once?

thanks-
