New Release - Firmware Version 3.04.17 for WD TV Live Hub (5/7/12)

WD is happy to announce our latest firmware update for the WD TV Live Hub Media Player.

If you experience any issues with this firmware, please report them in the WD TV Live Hub Issue Reporting exchange.

Also, please keep in mind that the What's New option in Settings still isn't working in this firmware update.

just installed this and now my samba windows network shares no longer work. keeps saying invalid user or password.

Works fine for me, however and at this point I am getting really upset. No changes to the logic of the Media Library.

It is beyond me how this thing passes the quality standards of this established company. You simply cant sort TV shows with that library. Don't the programmers get enough Co2 in their cubicles?

You know I am complaining since the last 6 updates that TV Shows are sorted by their episode name instead of the file name. The they added "sort by TV Shows" which simply does NOT work, it cannot find any TV shows "No Tv Shows in this folder" (what folder??? I am no longer sorting by folder)

It is literally no effort to add the sorting option "filename" If we can sort by folder/filename we can erase all sorting problems at once in all categories. For some reasons this is ignored since forever and it starts to become a serious problem for me now.

The library is a basic feature and it is broken because the device is dictating a sorting order that is out of order.

Someone who fancy's TV shows can not turn on the library and loses good features because of that...

It cannot be so hard to fix this, your coders are welcome to download my theme and install the demo folders with the 2 Tv Seasons, they will immediately realize what is wrong.

I am a solution oriented person but this time the solution has to come from you guys because this incomptence must end here.

I am using this firmware and Darklight. So far no troubles.

The new interface for "Services" is pretty nice.. it's divided up into categories now.

As for sorting, I can see how it's worthwhile, but honestly I never use it. If there's a lot of Seasons, I just store my TV shows in Season 1, Season 2, etc. If there's not much I stick them in one folder and have them numbered accordingly.. Title.S01E01.avi or whatever.. they came like that when I downloaded them, but I just remote the silly tags at the end that denotes who ripped the video.

It seems they have resolved a bunch of issues, most of which I don't use, except on occasion PlayJam, but it's very rare.

Updated tonight and now can't access Windows Shares. Nothing has changed on my computer.  Only the WD firmware.  get constant invalid username and password even after full device restart.  Yet again WD manages to screw up a relaxing evening of watching network shared content.  If I hadn't been given this WD TV Live Hub by my fiance I would have switched to a competing product a long time ago.  Totally fed up with WD's **bleep** firmware and constantly breaking features with each update.

Updated with no issues. Services layout is nice. Live TV on the main menu seems unessesary, but maybe we'll see more added there. Still no Amazon Prime

Also coverart icon preview now shows on .ISO's. (When you pause/play)

besides the fact that constant changing of filters is no very user friendly I have obviously tried this filter several times but it is not finding any TV shows only if I generate them with the build in scraper which is not an option at all. The season / Episode meta tag can not be generated with thumbgen & others as far as I am informed. (feel free to elaborate pls)

When someone is using the filter Folder / Alphabetically one is clearly going for the natural order of ones files, why not adding the option Folder / Filename? It would solve so many problems at once not only for TV shows but for music track sorting (if name has track number prefix) Anyone using iTunes can not afford to create a playlist for each album, it creates an unwanted playlist in iTunes as well which is redundant. Folder/Filename solves ALL sorting problems and keeps content in it is natural order.
